Stray from your usual lunch routine and make your way to Streeterville for locally sourced and organic fare. For Chicago Restaurant Week, you may go totally vegetarian if you like with selections such as a kale and quinoa salad, portobello stuffed with spinach, goat cheese and house-made marinara and a slice of flourless chocolate cake.

It’s adorable—and serious about its name, starting with in-house baking that produces superb breads, muffins (props to the cinnamon chocolate-chip version; $3), cookies, and more.

Local Root is bringing a delightful menu with locally sourced ingredients to a neighborhood that desperately needs more conscious eating choices....

When it comes to dinner, they have delicious thin crust flatbreads, salads, poutine and other great choices. By the way, have you guys ever heard of or tried poutine? I didn’t realize how popular it was. It’s basically fries topped with cheese and other yummy goodness. As far as the flatbreads go, there is one with brisket and blue cheese that took the cake....
